Do British Muslims face employment penalties?


Ethnic minorities face well-established penalties in the labour market. When attempting to understand the employment experiences of different religious groups, it is important to disentangle the separate roles of religion and ethnicity. Doing so helps us identify whether differences in unemployment and access to the top progressions between groups are due to ethnic or religious differences, which can help shed light on the best ways of reducing the disadvantages faced by certain groups.
